The government has unveiled the visual identity for GBR, constituting a notable advance in its plans to bring the railways under public control.
The fresh livery features a red, white and blue palette to reflect the Union Flag and will be used on locomotives, at stations, and across its online presence.
Notably, the emblem is the distinctive twin-arrow symbol currently used by National Rail and first designed in the 1960s for the former state operator.
The introduction of the design, which was created internally, is scheduled to occur gradually.
Commuters are scheduled to start seeing the freshly-liveried trains across the national network from spring next year.
Throughout the month of December, the visuals will be displayed at major stations, including Manchester Piccadilly.
The Railways Bill, which will pave the way the establishment of Great British Railways, is currently progressing through the Parliament.
The administration has stated it is bringing back into public ownership the railways so the system is "owned by the passengers, working for the passengers, not for corporate interests."
The new body will bring the running of passenger trains and infrastructure under one umbrella body.
The department has said it will combine seventeen separate bodies and "cut through the problematic bureaucracy and lack of accountability that has long affected the railways."
The rollout of GBR will also feature a dedicated app, which will let users to check train times and purchase tickets without booking fees.
Disabled users will also be have the option to use the app to request support.
Multiple operators had previously been taken into public control under the outgoing administration, including Southeastern.
There are now seven operating companies already in public hands, covering about a third of passenger trips.
In the last twelve months, Greater Anglia have been brought into public ownership, with further franchises likely to be added in the coming years.
"The new design is more than a new logo," said the relevant minister. It signifies "a fresh start, leaving behind the problems of the past and concentrated entirely on providing a reliable public service."
Industry figures have acknowledged the focus to bettering the passenger experience.
"The industry will carry on to collaborate with relevant bodies to support a seamless changeover to the new system," a representative noted.
