The Hit Drama Announced for Seventh Series on BBC

The beloved crime series Line of Duty will make a comeback for its seventh season, confirmed by the BBC.

A brand new six-part season written by the show's creator starts production in Belfast this spring, as confirmed by the network.

Vicky McClure shared her enthusiasm about the return, stating she was "so excited" about the show's renewal. Her co-star added, "What a joy it is to know that the main trio will be reuniting together soon."

The previous season wrapped up in recent years with a finale that drew in more than 17 million viewers. Rumors about a new season have been circulating for some time, but confirmation only came this week.

Series seven will open with AC-12 having been disbanded and renamed as the new police oversight body, according to the announcement.

Steve Arnott, Vicky McClure's role, and Ted Hastings remain tasked to combat corruption within the law enforcement.

The team's mission "faces unprecedented challenges", and under these circumstances, the trio will take on their "most delicate case so far."

Fresh Face and Complex Case

An additional officer, DI Dominic Gough, portrayed as a charismatic officer celebrated for busts of organized crime, is accused of misusing his authority to become a offender.

The BBC haven't revealed exactly the new season will hit screens.

The finale of season six brought the long-running storyline about the search for criminal mastermind known as "H" to a conclusion, and producers said at the time there were no intentions for further series.

However, the network confirmed on this week that a new season is now being produced.
