The Cottagers Begin Powerfully to Defeat Tottenham and Increase Pressure on the Manager
Spurs supporters who booed keeper Vicario were told afterwards "they can't be real Tottenham supporters" by boss Frank.
Spurs let in a pair of goals in the first initial moments to fall 2-1 to Fulham, marking their 10th Premier League at home defeat of 2025.
But the primary talking point was the visitors' second goal when the keeper gave away possession far beyond his area.
He ventured out to deal with a long ball and took the ball near the sideline.
But, instead of kicking it out of play, the Italian turned and attempted to clear, but slipped as the ball glanced off Harry Wilson and was controlled by Josh King.
The forward passed the ball off to Wales midfield player Harry Wilson, who curled a strike into the goal from the sideline measured at 36.6 yards.
Seconds later when the ball went to Vicario once more, a number of Tottenham supporters booed him.
The team were jeered off at half-time, with the club 2-0 behind, and again at full-time.
One of those booing sessions really angered Frank.
"It came to my attention a few of our supporters apparently booed the situation and booed after, which, in my view is totally unjustifiable," the Danish manager stated regarding the fans' response to his shot-stopper.
"[They] cannot be true Tottenham fans that act that way. Fair enough booing following the match, fine, but when we are playing, we are backing each other, we are behind one another moving ahead."
Tete had handed the visitors a early lead before Harry Wilson's strike – with Mohammed Kudus scoring for Spurs in an better second period performance.
Ex- Premier League goalkeeper Hart remarked that the next score was "completely preventable".
"I certainly appreciate the fans' disappointment," the ex-keeper added. "I am aware the role the keeper is performing. He's a excellent squad member, he's a real figure in the locker room but ultimately you are going to be assessed by your actions.
"The keeper was deeply implicated in what turned out to be the decisive goal."
Thomas Frank Stood Up For His Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario Following the Game
Italy national team Vicario is in his third campaign with Spurs.
The 29-year-old said after the game that he had to take the criticism.
"The second goal was a error of my own, I take accountability for that," he said.
"My aim was to clear the ball far and I just hit the ball in a bad way. It was an even bigger challenge to overcome."
He stated receiving jeers "comes with the game".
"I'm a big man, how can I respond?" he continued. "We cannot be influenced by the situation in the stands. The fans have the entitlement to do what they think.
"It's on the team to stay increasingly composed, to concentrate on our own performance. We are lacking in calmness and poise to reverse results. This match is a bad defeat and it is hard to take."
Despite the keeper's mistake, it was far from an easy score for Harry Wilson to convert.
Actually it was the next most distant top division goal of the season – after Adams' 43.3 metre goal for the Cherries against the Black Cats, which incidentally also occurred on Saturday.
The goalscorer said he was "a little bit taken aback" that he still had an empty net to target.
Ten moments elapsed between the keeper exiting of his area and the midfielder shooting – which was 5 moments following the kick.
"It seemed to me like the goalkeeper was out of the area for a long time," Wilson remarked.
"I was surprised not one of the back four went back to the line. When none of them defended the net, my eyes lit up somewhat.
"[Destiny] Udogie slipped too, which gave me a bit of extra time. After that it was solely about attempting to achieve the right connection and get it on target. I felt a good feeling, the moment it left my foot, that it was on the right line."
Jeering While We Are Still Playing Is Totally Unacceptable - the Manager
While the keeper's error led coverage, this was an overall bad day for Spurs to extend their home woes.
The match was their tenth at home defeat of the year in the Premier League, a shared team statistic along with 1994 and two thousand and three.
They still have home games against the manager's former club the Bees and champions the Reds to come before the end of the year.
Just a single of those victories have come after Frank took over from his predecessor in the summer.
"If you are down 2-0 following six minutes, there is a mountain to overcome," said Frank.
"When you're in a poor run, everything appears to work against you as well – the opening was a deflected shot, the next is a error from the keeper.
"This result leaves us in a place where we have lost another game. Each fixture has a unique narrative, today we lost in the first six minutes.
"We just need to continue striving. The later period was much better and hopefully an aspect we can utilize to learn."
Spurs have been defeated in four consecutive home capital clashes for the first time in the top division.
And they are recording 9.5 shots and three point two shots on target per match in the Premier League – their lowest rates on record in a one campaign (dating back to 2003-04).
Ex- Cottagers midfielder Murphy commented that the manager has to ride the storm.
"He must take the criticism," the pundit remarked. "He's taken a prestigious job at a major team with massive expectation. There is scrutiny and responsibility that accompanies that.
"The performances at their stadium have been poor and they have to improve {quickly|
