'Enduring a Horrific Ordeal': Relatives of Missing Teens Await News After Alpine Blaze

The loved ones of young people unaccounted for after a tragic blaze at a establishment in a Swiss winter destination are facing an agonising wait for answers and pleading for clues about their family members via social media.

The inferno ripped through the a popular bar in Cans-Montana, located in the mountains of the Valais region, in the small hours of the first day of the year. Verified video depict the roof structure catching alight as bottles with sparklers are held aloft.

Officials have indicated that it could take days if not weeks to identify the those who perished of the disaster, which killed four dozen individuals and wounded another over a hundred. A spokesperson said on Friday that 113 of the injured have been accounted for, with efforts ongoing to name the other six.

Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is also among the missing. His parent said that he had been on vacation but had ventured out with a group and ended up at the bar.

"A close friend informed me they ran away after the fire broke out and that he had his phone with him, but then at a specific moment he couldn't see him anymore," she explained, adding he had been wearing a identifiable gold chain.
