An investigation has identified that approximately 90 flights associated to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein are said to have arrived at and departed from UK airfields, with some allegedly carrying women from the UK who claim they were exploited by the convicted sex offender.
These aviation records were part of thousands of court documents and papers made public by Epsteinâs estate that have been made public over the previous twelve months. The investigation identified 87 flights connected to Epstein â encompassing many that were hitherto undisclosed â landing or taking off from British airfields between the start of the 1990s and 2018.
Unnamed female passengers were documented among the travelers travelling into and out of the UK. Crucially, 15 of these flights involving the UK occurred following Epsteinâs 2008 conviction for soliciting sex from a underage person.
âThis is âshockingâ that there had never been a âthorough probe in the UKâ into his operations in the country,â said American attorneys acting for hundreds of Epstein victims.
Evidence from one of the UK-based survivors aided the conviction of Epsteinâs associate socialite Ghislaine Maxwell of child sex-trafficking in the US in 2021. Yet, that individual has not received any contact by UK authorities, according to her attorney based in Florida.
In a response, the the Met stated they had ânot received any new information that would support restarting the probe.â They added, âIf fresh and pertinent information be brought to our attention, including any arising from the release of documents in the US, we will assess it.â
A bill to release all files held by the American government in concerning Epstein passed the House and Senate last month. The Department of Justice has until 19 December to follow through. Hundreds of thousands of papers are expected to be made public.
Additionally, a US judge ruled last week that the department could make public case files from a sex-trafficking case against Maxwell, Epsteinâs longtime confidante, who is serving a 20-year prison sentence over the charges.
